In my dances, compelling characters inhabit complex worlds.  Through idiosyncratic gestures and sculptured corporeal language, I create darkly whimsical and distinctly female takes on our culture. I have been investigating the solo form for a long time, often animating costume and props as partners. To make a new work I research, write, sketch, improvise, and show the work in process to peers to gain insights about what is being communicated. In making a new piece I aim to reveal the humor, ache, and dignity of what it means to be human.
